Geography

What do we want our children to be like when they leave our school? We want them to be able to act, talk and think like geographers so that they are curious about the world around them.
In order to do this, our Geography curriculum is designed around the experiences and needs of the children in our community. Children will be equipped with knowledge about diverse places, people and resources. Through the study of the Earth’s natural and human environments, as well as physical and human processes, our desire is to provide our children with a sense of awe and wonder about the world. Geography is taught through stories, imagination, communication, experiences and the principle of learning to learn to develop knowledge and skills that are transferrable to other curriculum areas. Geographical knowledge and skills are progressive and sequenced so that as pupils progress through school, they develop a widening understanding of the world.
